Youth tobacco use represents one of the most consequential and preventable public health challenges of the modern era. This research publication evaluates the short and long-term health effects of smoking on adolescents, the intersections of nicotine addiction with mental health and peer influence, the regulatory frameworks governing youth access to tobacco across different countries, the effectiveness of educational and curricular interventions in deterring smoking behaviors, and the biological and psychosocial factors that increase susceptibility to substance use during the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Drawing on empirical research spanning several decades and multiple national contexts, this paper finds that smoking initiation continues to occur at increasingly young ages, that nicotine exerts measurable neurological effects on developing adolescent brains, and that prevention efforts are most effective when they integrate skill-building, social resistance training, and critical thinking within broader regulatory and educational frameworks. Ethical concerns surrounding informed consent, participant vulnerability, research stigmatization, and the inclusion of minors in clinical studies are critically examined throughout.
