Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition characterized by deficits in social communication, repetitive behaviors, and sensory processing differences. As prevalence rates of ASD have continued to increase worldwide, researchers and clinicians have focused on developing more effective, equitable, and timely approaches to ensure early identification and intervention. This paper examines the neurobiological basis of social communication challenges in ASD, the relationship between early intervention and long-term developmental outcomes, current and emerging screening and diagnostic methods, and sensory accommodations for children and adolescents experiencing auditory hypersensitivity. The paper concludes that a comprehensive and effective response to ASD must span neuroscience, clinical diagnostics, educational practice, and environmental design simultaneously, while remaining grounded in ethical principles that prioritize equity, informed consent, and the protection of vulnerable pediatric populations.
